Commemoration – 60 years of the Elysée Treaty

Commemoration - 60 years of the Elysée Treaty

On 22 January, Germany and France celebrated the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Elysée Treaty. The 3ème Deutsch+ students created posters to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Elysée Treaty. In small groups, the students retraced the history of Franco-German relations: this Tuesday, they presented to their classmates the history that preceded the signing of the friendship treaty, the treaty itself, the Franco-German Youth Office, the Sauzay and Voltaire exchange programmes and the signing of the Treaty of Aachen. The posters are on display at the Lycée.

On Monday, the 6ème classes of the Deutsch+ osection made a presentation of the treaty to explain what it means and its impact on our daily lives. Afterwards, they presented their work to their friends in the 6ème and 5ème German language classes (LV), of course in German!
The 5ème classes brought their contribution  and compiled a questionnaire with 23 questions about Germany, to which the Deutsch+ ostudents were invited to respond.

As part of the Deutsch+ programme, some of the 6ème students wrote and presented haiku, very short poems of Japanese origin, celebrating the ephemeral nature of things and the sensations they evoke. Each poem was complemented by a drawing which was afterwards presented to their colleagues.

We would like to thank the teachers and students for this special moment which reminds us how important it is to preserve the memory.
