A unique global network

The AEFE is a public institution placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs that supervises and supports the network of French teaching establishments. The network is committed to providing public educational services for French families living abroad as well as promoting the French language, culture and values defining French education. AEFE network welcomes over 390,000 students in 566 schools across 138 countries. The quality and coherence of the education provided in these institutions, as well as the values attached to them, are the specific features of this network, unique in the world. That is why we encourage students from all over the world to join us.

Excellence, sharing and reach

The teaching delivered in French schools abroad is innovative, open to the language and culture of host countries and provides enhanced learning of modern languages from nursery age. It prepares students for their future as citizens in open, multilingual and multicultural societies. Schools in the network therefore have the vocation of combining French education with teaching to an international standard, promotion of the French language, the development of multiculturalism, a teaching method that is committed to the success of all and to excellence. The network’s schools boast an excellent baccalaureate pass rate (98.9% on average, 100% in many schools), higher than that of French high schools. Most of the network’s baccalaureate graduates have access to the Grandes Écoles (elite French academic institutions) and at the best international universities.

The governing bodies of the Lycée français de Düsseldorf

Parents association (APE)

All parents are welcome to join our association. The General Assembly (GA) of the association, which meets once a year, is a privileged moment for communication, information and dialogue on the management of our school.

The parents association (Verein der Eltern und Förderer des französischen Gymnasiums in Düsseldorf e.V) was founded in 1976. It is the managing body for the school for which it is legally responsible under German law. It is also the employer of staff on local contracts. At the GA, the members of the Association elect the parent representatives who sit on the board of governors, the managing body of the Lycée français international Simone Veil.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS (Vorstand)

The board of governors, elected by the members of the association in a general assembly, has the economic responsibility for the institution and therefore the responsibility for the LfiSV budget.
This democratic body enables parents to make an active and meaningful contribution to the school’s development. The board of governors works in partnership with the leadership team, supporting the school’s educational project.
The board of governors consists of 6 to 10 members, each with voting rights. Parents are re-elected every three years and work on a voluntary basis.

The establishment Council (Conseil d’établissement)

The establishment council is a tripartite body consisting of equal numbers of members representing the administration, staff, parents and students. It comprises 15 members with voting rights. Participants in an advisory capacity: the Consul General, the president of the Vorstand, advisers from the “Assemblée des Français de l’étranger”.

The school Council (Conseil d’école)

The head of pre and primary school presides over the school council. The head of pre and primary, the teachers, a parent representative by class attend with voting rights. The headmaster and the director of administration and finance attend in an advisory capacity.
The school council adopts the procedural rules of the school as proposed by the head of pre and primary school .
