8 March is International Women’s Day, a symbol of the fight for women’s rights all over the world, and what better way to celebrate this day than to invite a woman to talk to? On that day, the CM1 classes were visited by a mother who is an engineer at Airbus: her position is that of a MAP engineer (Mise Au Point cabin and cargo) on an Airbus 320 aircraft. Her job is very concrete, lively, diversified and close to the product. She would accompany the aircraft from the installation of the cabin to the handover to the customer, passing through the different stages such as pressurisation, painting and flight tests (she even participated in flight tests). Another part of her job is to find technical solutions on the fly and to make last minute changes requested by the customer.
After this lively visit, the students wrote up their essay, presented below:
Today, Wednesday 8 March, is International Women’s Day and the CM1 welcomed Mrs Wagner.
She is an engineer at Airbus. She checks the construction plans of the cabins and sometimes she finds herself among many pipes in the hold of an aircraft.
It is above all a team job where everyone is responsible for the safety of the other.
She is passionate about her job. She has even applied to become an astronaut.
